AI RESERVATION CALL AUDITS

The reservation call is where a luxury stay begins. Most hotels test it once a year.

Forbes, LQA and the great quality-assurance programmes measure almost everything about a luxury property. The reservation line, the first human moment of the guest journey, gets a fraction of that attention, often a single call buried inside an annual assessment. Reservation Auditor is built to test that one moment properly, as often as you like.

01 / THE RESERVATION MOMENT

For a luxury guest, the call is the concierge before the concierge.

92.2%of calls ended with no contact details capturedAs reported by Revinate Hospitality Research Group,
2026 Secret Shopped Call Report

A guest who telephones a five-star or boutique hotel is rarely price-shopping. They are deciding whether this is the place for an anniversary, a milestone, a rare few days away. That call is often the only human conversation they have with the property before they arrive, and it sets the expectation everything else is measured against.

Yet the reservation line is the least-tested moment in the whole operation. A full quality-assurance assessment looks at hundreds of standards across the stay, and the reservation call is one small part of it, checked once or perhaps twice a year. Between those assessments, nobody is listening with a trained ear, and no two calls are ever tested the same way.

The evidence that this moment slips is striking. In a 2026 study of 308 mystery calls to more than 135 luxury and upscale hotels, presented by the Revinate Hospitality Research Group, 92.2 percent of calls ended with no contact details captured, more than half asked no discovery questions at all, and only around a fifth made a direct, proactive request for the booking. These are not budget properties. They are the top of the market, losing the warmest lead they will ever get, on the call that should be their strongest.

02 / THE EXISTING STANDARD

The quality-assurance programmes you already know, and where the reservation call sits in them.

The luxury and premium segment is served by a handful of respected assessment programmes. They are thorough and they matter. But they were built to certify the whole property against a vast standard, not to keep a close, frequent watch on the reservation line.

01

Forbes Travel Guide

The standard-bearer for star ratings. Inspectors assess a property anonymously against up to 900 objective criteria across a stay of at least two nights, and the programme does offer phone-based checks for reservation and customer-service centres. Partners can select the timing and frequency. It is a certification and benchmarking programme, run at long intervals, where the reservation call is one line among many.

02

Leading Quality Assurance (LQA)

A luxury benchmark assessing properties anonymously against more than 1,000 criteria over one to three nights, with reservations as one assessment category and audio of interactions such as reservation calls sometimes captured. A confidential, periodic certification for the top of the market, not a high-frequency monitor of the phone channel.

03

Coyle Hospitality Group

An established hospitality evaluation firm (New York, founded 1996 by Jim Coyle) that runs guest-experience evaluations and telephone and sales assessments using independent evaluators who are never repeated at the same property, with benchmarking and action plans. Strong, human, and customisable, and typically run as a periodic programme rather than on demand.

Each of these is valuable. None of them is designed to let you test the reservation line itself, on your own schedule, as often as the moment deserves.

03 / SIDE BY SIDE

Two different jobs: certify the property, or protect the booking.

04 / OUTSIDE IN

Auditing the call is not the same as scoring your own recordings.

There is a second kind of AI arriving in hospitality, and it is worth being clear about the difference. Tools such as Revinate's call scoring with Ivy use AI to score a hotel's own recorded reservation calls against service standards, inside the hotel's own reservation system. In pilots, Revinate reports its scoring agrees with human scorers around 96 percent of the time. It is a genuinely useful way to review real calls at volume.

But it can only ever look at the calls your own system already records. It cannot place a fresh, controlled call to test what a new guest actually experiences, it cannot test a line you do not record, an after-hours or overflow desk, or a property before it is a customer. That outside-in test, a real call placed as a real guest and scored against a fixed standard, is what Reservation Auditor is purpose-built to do, and it is one of the few tools built to do it for hotels.

The two approaches complement each other. Score your own calls to watch real volume. Use Reservation Auditor to test, deliberately and repeatedly, the experience a new guest is given.

05 / PURPOSE-BUILT FOR HOTELS

Built for the standard your property is held to.

01

Section heading:

Built for the standard your property is held to.

02

A guest worthy of your property.

You design the caller and the scenario. The suite enquiry that expects to be sold, the guest marking an anniversary, the caller who holds back a card until the last moment. Tier-appropriate guests who behave like the people who actually call a luxury or boutique hotel, not a generic enquiry.

03

The same standard, every single call.

Every audit is scored against the same structured framework across the commercial, guest-experience and compliance dimensions that decide whether a caller books. Consistent and repeatable, so you can compare agent against agent, property against property, month against month.

04

Evidence, not impressions.

You get the recording, the full transcript, and every finding tied to the exact moment it happened, with a coaching plan. Your team can hear what the guest heard.

05

On your schedule, with nothing to sign.

No annual programme, no lock-in. Run one audit or a hundred, whenever you want, and your first audit is free. A single luxury quality-assurance stay costs into the thousands and happens once a year. An audit costs a fraction of that and can run every week.

06 / COMMON QUESTIONS

A few things worth being clear about.

It serves the same purpose, an anonymous, realistic test of your reservation line, but it is run by an AI guest rather than a human, so it can be done far more often, scored the same way every time, and returned in minutes with a full recording and transcript.
